LINES - ASU Campus, Tempe, Arizona
Workplace Design + Budgeting
Redesigning the Student Success Center for the Herberger Institute of Design & the Arts, at two different price points, to reflect the diverse student body and its evolving needs.
The client’s chief concerns were branding (looking like a space for young creatives), inclusively (representing all 50+ majors in the college), wayfinding, display of student work, and budget.
LINES solved all of this with one concept: all creatives use lines, whether drawing, speaking, coding, etc. - and lines can lead you where you need to go.
I designed a statement wavy “wall” as a brand element. This allowed for a curved wall/flexible student work display that could be constructed in the fabrication shop. This curved element plays with the all the straight ones, without the cost of an actual wavy wall.
Concept
LINES solves the wayfinding and office identity issues in one simple, affordable, adaptable package.
Colored vinyl lines lead to the offices of different majors, and the art on the glass walls corresponds with these lines.
Glass walls give an open office feel while preserving privacy concerns.
