FABRIC - Flagstaff, AZ
Co-Working + Adaptive Reuse
Transforming a black box theater into a center for a fashion industry start up in Tempe, Arizona.
FABRIC is a fashion industry startup located in Tempe, Arizona. They seek to grow the fashion industry in Arizona by teaching varied skills, from design to fabrication to product photography, to allow for local production of larger fashion collections. They also act as an incubator, supporting up-and-coming designers with office space and tools.
Their current building is a former black box theater. The challenges in adapting this space for a very different use included a runway that could also be production space when not hosting events, and connecting disjointed meeting rooms into a co-working and classroom space for people from all parts of the fashion industry.

Co-Working + Design Adaptation
A redesign of the design of Fabric Tempe for a new build in historic downtown Flagstaff, Arizona. This design responded to the very different relationships between Northern Arizona, its mountainous landscape, and the tribal populations of the area.
